The world would be such a better place if people were doing more of what they love, than what they "get by" doing. I love UPCYCLING! (Using goods or used materials to produce something new....while saving the environment.)Today's DIY project was done in February, but since it's still hanging on my wall in my entranceway to my house, I figured I'd post about it on my blog. For this particular project, I found an old copy of EAT, PRAY, LOVE (my favorite book) at a local thrift shop! Materials:Sewing MachineAny old, used book (I get lots at Thrift Shops for $1 each!)Heart Paper Punch (I used large and small hearts)White ThreadScissorsTree branchRed Twine Step ONE: (140 hearts: 60 large & 80 small)Pull pages out of the book and start punching out the paper hearts. I rotated the paper so the writing on the hearts were not just horizontal on all the hearts. Look for fun words or phrases (and also beware of "bad words" as well!!) I punched out 140 hearts (5 strands total, 3 Large strands with 20 on each, and 2 small strands with 40 on each.)Step TWO:Begin sewing the hearts together. Starting at the top of each heart, sew a vertical line down the center, and adding about one inch between each large heart and about 1/4 inch between each smaller heart. DIY: Sea Salt & Olive Oil ScrubThis DIY project is as easy as 1-2-3! You probably even have all the ingredients sitting in the cupboard right now...waiting for you.If you are looking for an easy, last minute gift, or want ideas for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day or a birthday coming up...this is it! You can give your loved ones a cute little gift of pampering, and I promise their skin will be fabulously smooth!Spring/Summer will be here before we know it and our legs and arms are coming out again, time to exfoliate with this amazing DIY: Sea Salt & Olive Oil Scrub!Ingredients:1/4 cup Olive Oil1 cup Kosher or Sea Salt(that's it!!)(this will make two 4-oz mason jars)Additional items:Labels (You can download the ones I made HERE for FREE!)TwineMixing BowlMeasuring CupsSpoonDirections: Mix the two ingredients in a bowl until blended.
